Lions Club Carnival
September 5th and 6th

The 64th annual Carlinville Lions Club Carnival is scheduled
for Friday and Saturday evenings, Sept. 5 and 6, on the
Square.
This is the Lions Club’s major fund-raiser for the year,
whereby the money generated by the Queen candidates is
reinvested into the community in a number of ways and
projects.
Everyone is encouraged to support the queen candidates by
buying tickets and having a chance to win a cash prize from
the drawings (winners
need not be present).
Carlinville Lions Club is honored and privileged to announce
the queen will be selected from the following six young
ladies, all of whom will be seniors at Carlinville High
School this fall and are vying for Queen of the Lions
Carnival for 2008:
Chelsey Brown – She is the 17-year-old daughter of Curtis
and Christy Brown of Carlinville. She has been involved with
student government as a class officer for the past three
years. Brown is an active member of Charity Baptist Church,
where she is a member of the choir. She has been involved in
various church mission projects to the local community. In
her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors and helping others
by volunteering through various community activities. Brown
is busy this summer providing baby-sitting services for a
local family. After graduation, she plans to attend St.
Louis University, majoring in occupational therapy.
Kimberly Gaines – She is the 17-year-old daughter of Rick
and Julie Gaines of Carlinville. She has been involved with
various activities at CHS, including volleyball and French
Club, is on the honor roll and has had perfect attendance.
Gaines is a member of Carlinville Southern Baptist Church.
This summer, she is involved with the Summer Youth Soccer
program as a referee. Additionally, she baby-sits. Gaines’
hobbies include scrapbooking, reading, and all sports. After
graduation, she plans to attend Blackburn College, pursuing
a major in criminal justice with a minor in psychology.
Morgan Konneker – She is the 17-year-old daughter of Bill
and Tammy Konneker. During her school career, she has been
active in various CHS extracurricular activities, including
Model United Nations, CHS@Heart (a community service team)
and ran cross country. Konneker is an active member of
Carlinville Southern Baptist Church, where she is involved
in the drama ministry and media production team. She has
been involved with summer missionary work that has taken her
to North Carolina; Mississippi, after Hurricane Katrina; and
Kentucky, as well as helping with construction on their
local church facility. This summer, she has been employed in
the family business, getting her feet wet in Accounting,
Parts and Sales. After graduation, Konneker plans to attend
Belmont College in Nashville, Tenn., majoring in Marketing
and Media.
Tiffany Mikalauski – She is the 17-year-old daughter of
Dennis and Melinda Mikalauski of Carlinville. She has been
very active at CHS in the Student Council and as a class
officer. Mikalauski is a member of the National Honor
Society and French Club, has been in the All-School Musical,
is on the cheerleading team and Prom Committee, volunteers
with the schools’ CHS@Heart, was co-captain of the Junior
Class Magazine Sales and was a marshal for the graduating
Class of 2008. She attends Carlinville Southern Baptist
Church and is a Senior Girl Scout. This summer, she is
employed at the Carlinville Dairy Queen. In her free time,
Mikalauski enjoys spending time with family, friends and
pets. After graduation, she plans to attend college,
pursuing a career in pharmacy.
Leslyann Rosentreter – She is the 17-year-old daughter of
Larry and Lisa Rosentreter of Carlinville. She has been
involved with the CHS Band and Cavalettes; is the Cavaliers’
mascot on her trusty horse, Gloria Jean; and has been in the
All-School Musicals. Rosentreter has danced at the Stevens
School of Dance and Gymnastics in Jacksonville for the past
10 years. She is an active member
of Ss. Mary & Joseph Catholic Church, where she is involved
with youth missions, attending Catholic Shine Workcamps
during the past several years. She is employed at Macoupin
Veterinary Clinic, boards and cares for several horses on
her family’s farm, and squeezes in time at Carlinville
Public Pool as a lifeguard. Rosentreter’s hobbies include
training horses, horseback riding and dancing. Upon
graduation, she plans to attend Blackburn College and pursue
a career in nursing.
Hillary Wernsing – She is the 17-year-old daughter of Theron
and Ann Wernsing of Carlinville. She is active at CHS in the
Student Council and as a class officer. Wernsing has been a
member of the volleyball team and has played on the
Edwardsville Club volleyball team. She was co-captain of the
Junior Class Magazine Sales, on the Prom Committee, a member
of the French Club, participant with the CHS@Heart volunteer
program and is an honor student. She is a junior volunteer
at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, baby-sits in her
spare time and is a certified lifeguard at Carlinville
Public Pool. Wernsing is a member of Ss. Simon & Jude
Catholic Church in Gillespie. She enjoys spending time with
family and friends, four-wheeling, and being at the lake.
After graduation, she plans to attend college to pursue a
degree in nursing, focusing on pediatrics.
